Bhubaneswar, Nov 29: The Odisha School and Mass Education Department has opened an online portal to streamline the transfer process of primary teachers within districts. Applications are being accepted from November 28, with the deadline set for December 25, 2025.

According to a directive issued by the Directorate of Elementary Education, all District Education Officers (DEOs) have been instructed to facilitate online applications for transfers. The process will be carried out in line with notification number 13453/SME issued earlier on May 14. Teachers seeking transfers to other schools within their district must submit their applications online before the deadline.

The move is part of broader reforms under the National Education Policy (NEP), which aims to strengthen primary education in Odisha. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has emphasized the importance of improving school education and has announced several initiatives to achieve this goal. Over the next three years, the state plans to recruit 45,000 teachers, creating 40,000 new posts to meet growing demands in the education sector.

In a recent review meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan, the CM Majhi highlighted the need for a unified education board in Odisha. It was decided that the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) and the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) will be merged to form a single board, ensuring consistency and efficiency in the state’s education system.

Additionally, the government has committed to providing free textbooks to all students up to Class 10. These measures are aligned with the vision of building a prosperous Odisha by 2036, with primary education serving as the foundation for long-term development.

Officials noted that the online transfer portal will not only make the process transparent but also reduce delays and irregularities. By focusing on quality education and better teacher management, the state aims to create a stronger and more inclusive learning environment for children.
