Ganjam, Nov 29: For the first time in 28 years, Subarnapur village under Jhadabandh Panchayat in Dharakot block of Ganjam district witnessed the glow of electric lights, bringing immense joy to its residents.
The long wait ended when the District Collector of Ganjam inaugurated the electricity connection by performing a puja and cutting the ribbon, marking a historic day for the villagers.
The atmosphere in the village turned festive as people
celebrated with dance and songs, overwhelmed by the sight of electric bulbs
lighting up their homes and streets. Until now, the villagers had spent nights
in darkness, with children studying under dim kerosene lamps and dreaming of a
brighter future.

✨The issue came to the attention of the Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who directed the District Collector to ensure electricity supply to Subarnapur at the earliest. Following the directive, officials worked tirelessly to complete the necessary arrangements and infrastructure. Their efforts culminated in Saturday’s successful electrification of the village.
