Bhubaneswar, Mar 8: More than 1 crore 2 lakh women will receive the fourth instalment of financial assistance under Odisha’s ambitious Subhadra Yojana on the occasion of International Women's Day today.

The development was confirmed by Deputy CM Pravati Parida on Saturday.

A grand event will be held at Talabania in Puri today, where the Chief Minister will oversee the distribution.

According to the Deputy Chief Minister, the government will transfer over Rs 5,000 crore directly to the bank accounts of beneficiaries through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.

Parida further stated that around 2.13 lakh new beneficiaries have been added to the scheme and will receive financial assistance in this phase.

The Subhadra Yojana, launched by the Government of Odisha, aims to strengthen the financial independence of women by providing them with direct financial support.

As per the eligibility criteria, women who attain the age of 21 years will be newly included in the scheme, while those who cross the age of 60 years will be shifted to the pension beneficiary list under other social welfare programmes.
