Bhubaneswar, Apr 5: A shocking incident of robbery has been reported from Bhubaneswar’s Khandagiri area, where a senior citizen was allegedly looted under the pretext of being offered a lift.

According to the complaint filed with the local police station, the victim lost Rs 60,000 in cash that he had withdrawn from a bank for household purposes.

The victim stated that while returning home after withdrawing money, an unidentified man offered him a lift. Trusting the offer, the elderly person accepted. However, after travelling some distance, the accused stopped the vehicle on the pretext of refueling. At that moment, he allegedly snatched the bag containing the cash and fled the scene.

The senior citizen immediately lodged a complaint with the Khandagiri police, who have begun an investigation. Police sources confirmed that CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being examined to identify and apprehend the culprit.

This incident has raised concerns about the safety of senior citizens, particularly those handling large sums of cash. Authorities have urged people to remain cautious and avoid accepting unsolicited offers of transport from strangers.
