Rushikulya River Swells Amid Heavy Rain In Ganjam

Key Points

The current water level at Purushottampur stands at 14.600 millimeters.
Ganjam, Oct 29: Heavy rainfall in Odisha’s Ganjam district has sharply raised the water level in Rushikulya River. However, the water level is still below the official danger threshold.

According to local authorities, the current water level at Purushottampur stands at 14.600 millimeters.

While the river is visibly swollen, it has not yet crossed the warning threshold of 15.400 millimeters or the danger mark set at 15.900 millimeters.

On Wednesday, Purushottampur recorded 38.4 millimeters of rainfall, contributing to the river’s rise. Officials are closely monitoring the situation and have urged residents in low-lying areas to remain alert.

No evacuation orders have been issued yet, but contingency plans are in place should the water level continue to rise.
