Rs 2 Cr Cash Seized At Titilagarh Railway Junction; Two Held

Balangir, Oct 18: The officials of Railway Protection Force (RPF) seized cash worth Rs 2 crore from a suitcase at Titilagarh Railway Junction and arrested two persons in connection with the case.

The two accused persons had boarded the Tatanagar-Alappuzha Express at Kesinga station.

According to reports, the matter came to fore when the railway personnel noticed a black suitcase. On growing suspicion, the personnel inspected the suitcase. A thorough inspection revealed bundles of currency notes inside the suitcase.

Upon questioning, the individuals admitted the suitcase contained cash but claimed ignorance about the exact amount.

The RPF immediately detained the duo for further interrogation and launched an inquiry into the source and purpose of the funds.

With the Nuapada by-election approaching, speculation is rife that the money may have been en route to influence electoral activities in the region. However, authorities have yet to confirm any political links or affiliations.
