Argus News - Prisoner Dies By Electrocution At Bargarh Jail; Suicide Suspected

Bargarh, Oct 21: A 38-year-old prisoner serving a jail term at the Bargarh District Jail reportedly died after coming into contact with a live electric wire within the jail premises.

The deceased has been identified as Giridhar Bahidar. He was serving a sentence following his conviction in a POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) case.

According to preliminary reports, Bahidar came into contact with the wire under circumstances that suggest intentional self-harm.

The matter came to light after the jail authorities discovered Bahidar unresponsive. The officials immediately rushed him for medical attention, but was declared dead upon arrival.

Although the exact circumstances surrounding the prisoner's death remain under investigation, preliminary reports suggest that Giridhar Bahidar may have committed suicide.
