The  President is scheduled to inaugurate an Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), a Tribal Museum, a scenic riverside park, and a Science Park with a Planetarium.
Sundargarh, Apr 14: Rourkela, the Steel City of Odisha, is preparing for a historic moment as the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, is scheduled to visit the city for the first time on April 21.

The President’s one-day tour is expected to be a moment of pride and celebration for the people of Rourkela, marking a significant chapter in the city’s history.

The highlight of the visit will be the inauguration of four major projects that promise to transform the cultural and civic landscape of the region. These include the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), a Tribal Museum, a scenic riverside park along the Koel river, and a Science Park with a Planetarium.

Each of these projects reflects the city’s commitment to modernization while preserving its rich heritage.

The Tribal Museum, in particular, will serve as a cultural treasure, showcasing traditional tribal art, costumes, and endangered crafts. It aims to preserve and promote the vibrant tribal legacy of Odisha for future generations. Meanwhile, the ICCC will enhance urban governance and public services, making Rourkela a model for smart city initiatives. The riverside park will provide a green recreational space for citizens, while the Science Park and Planetarium will inspire curiosity and learning among students and young minds.
