Khordha, Oct 12: In a major crackdown on illegal narcotics trade, Tangi Police arrested a ganja smuggler and seized 30 kilograms of ganja from a car en route from Kandhamal to Khordha.

Based on credible inputs, the police team set up a surveillance operation near Kuhudi along National Highway 16. The accused, identified as Rajeshkhan Digal from Kandhamal district, was transporting the contraband in a private vehicle when he was intercepted.

According to police sources, the smuggler attempted to evade capture by diverting toward a side road near Biribadi Chhak. However, the alert Tangi police team managed to block the vehicle and apprehend the accused.

The seized vehicle and the narcotics have been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway to uncover the broader network involved in the smuggling operation.

Authorities have intensified vigilance along key transit routes in the region to curb the rising instances of illegal ganja transportation from interior districts.
