Jajpur, Sept 3: In a major breakthrough, Pattamundai police have arrested a youth in connection with the murder of Banita Rout, who had been reported missing since August 28.

According to reports, the victim, a resident of Narendrapur village, had been reported missing since August 28. However, her body was later found at a fast food shop.

The incident came to fore after the shop owner, suspecting something unusual, unlocked the premises and discovered a decomposed body inside. He soon alerted the matter to police, who immediately along with a scientific team reached the spot and initiated a probe.

Upon investigation, the body was identified as that of Banita Rout.

Pattamundai Adarsha Police registered a case and launched a manhunt for the suspect. However, the accused was successfully apprehended from a field in the Kalamatia area of Jajpur today.

Police have confirmed that the accused has been taken into custody and will be produced in the court later today.
