Bhubaneswar, Sept 3: A well-marked low-pressure area has formed over the northwestern Bay of Bengal. The system is likely to move in a west-northwest direction, passing through Odisha and bringing widespread rainfall across the state for the next four days.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Alert for the districts of Deogarh, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, and Jharsuguda, warning of extremely heavy rainfall that could lead to flooding and disruption of daily life.
An Orange Alert has also been issued for Puri, Khordha, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Angul, Cuttack, Koraput, and Nabarangpur, indicating the likelihood of heavy to very heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds.

✨The weather agency have warned that the sea will remain rough due to the intensifying system. As a precaution, fishermen have been advised not to venture into deep sea areas along the Odisha coast and the northern Bay of Bengal.
Authorities are urging residents in vulnerable areas to remain alert and avoid unnecessary travel.
Disaster response teams have been placed on standby, and district administrations are coordinating with weather officials to monitor the evolving situation.
