Cuttack, Feb 26: Padma Shri awardee Utsav Charan Das, renowned exponent of the traditional folk art Ghoda Nacha (horse dance), passed away this morning while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Choudwar. He was 80.
Das, celebrated for his lifelong dedication to preserving and popularising Odisha’s rich cultural heritage, was conferred the Padma Shri in 2020 for his contribution to the performing arts. He was also a recipient of the Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi award, further cementing his legacy as one of the state’s foremost cultural icons.
