Subarnapur, Oct 8: In a major crackdown on illegal drug trade, Subarnapur Police seized a large cache of ganja from the residence of a suspected drug mafia.

Acting on reliable intelligence, a team from Subarnapur Police Station launched a search operation at the residence of a suspected drug mafia in Buromunda village. During the operation, the police team recovered over two quintals of cannabis inside the house.

However, the accused managed to flee the scene.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the individual had been running an illegal cannabis trade from his residence.

The raid was carried under the directive of the District Superintendent of Police.

Police officials have confirmed that the seized cannabis will be weighed in the presence of a magistrate. Further legal proceedings are expected to follow, and efforts are underway to apprehend the absconding accused.
