Sexual Assault / Odia Woman Raped, Murdered In Hyderabad

Hyderabad/Bhubaneswar, Oct 17: An Odia woman working in Hyderabad was allegedly raped and murdered at her residence.
The victim has been identified as Anindita Mahant, a resident of Bharatpur in Bhubaneswar.
Anindita and her husband, Gautam Ghadei, had been living in Hyderabad for the past six months, and were working at a private company. While Gautam worked as a maintenance in electrical department, Anindita served as a trainer. The couple also have a four-year-old son.
According to the complaint filed at Bharatpur police station, the crime occurred on October 11 when Gautam had travelled to Bhubaneswar with their son for passport-related work, leaving Anindita alone at their Hyderabad residence. Meanwhile, a colleague from her company took advantage, entered the house, sexually assaulted her, and then strangled her to death.

✨After being informed by the neighbours, police reached the spot and launched an investigation. The body was seized and sent to a local hospital for post-mortem.
Anindita’s mother, Shukanti Mahant, has accused the colleague of committing the crime and has appealed for help in bringing her daughter’s body back to Odisha for final rites.
