Balasore, Nov 25: A newborn baby boy was found abandoned near the roadside in Bishwanathpur village under Singla police station limits in Balasore district.

According to reports, the incident came to fore, this morning at around 6 AM, when family members of one Guhina Majhi, who lives near the Langaleswar Forest Office, heard the cries of an infant outside their house.

Upon inspection, the family members found a newborn baby boy wrapped in clothes.

Suspecting that someone had abandoned the child, the family immediately rescued him and alerted local authorities.

Soon police reached the spot and rescued the newborn to Basta Community Health Centre for initial treatment and later shifted to the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital for further medical care.

Police have begun an investigation into the matter, while locals expressed shock and concern over the abandonment.

Authorities are working to trace those responsible and ensure the child’s safety.
