Baripada, Oct 11: A shocking case of child abduction has emerged from the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Baripada, Mayurbhanj, where a newborn was allegedly stolen from her mother in the Gynecology Department.

According to preliminary reports, the woman, identified as Phulamani Sorena, 20-year-old resident of Ranibhol village under Baripada Sadar police limits, had delivered a baby few days ago. An unidentified woman approached the victim, claiming to assist her and take the child to the doctor. Trusting the woman, Phulamani handed over the newborn—only to discover moments later that the woman had vanished with the baby.
