Balangir, Oct 30: A deeply disturbing incident has surfaced from the Kumunsi forest near Goelpita village under Bandhpada Police Outpost in Deogaon, Balangir district, where the half-burnt body of a woman was discovered, sparking shock and outrage across the region.

According to preliminary reports, the charred remains were found on Wednesday when two local herders had ventured into Kumunsi jungle, located approximately half a kilometer off the Dumerta road.

Upon discovering the body, the landowner of the area promptly informed the police, who then arrived at the scene and launched an investigation.

During the probe, the woman was identified as a mentally challenged individual from Patnagarh area.

Authorities suspect that the woman was sexually assaulted before being brutally murdered by setting her on fire.
