Jharsuguda, Jan 13: A massive fire broke out at Jharsuguda Railway Station, causing panic among passengers and disrupting train services.
According to officials, the fire originated from a short circuit in the telephone exchange, quickly spread smoke across the station premises. Soon, fire brigade teams were deployed to douse the flames.
On the other hand, passengers were evacuated safely, while the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP), and local Jharsuguda police reached the site and managed the situation.
The incident led to a complete breakdown of electricity supply and telephone communication at the station.
Several facilities, including the Station Master’s office, DTC chamber, ticket counters, and railway power lines, were damaged.
