Cuttack, Mar 24: A massive fire broke out at the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) office located on Link Road in Cuttack on Tuesday morning, triggering panic among nearby residents.

According to reports, the matter came to light after thick plumes of smoke were seen billowing from the building. The locals on seeing the blaze reportedly alerted the fire department officials.

The Fire Services Department rushed to the spot immediately after receiving the alert. Several fire tenders were pressed in service to douse the flames.

Authorities have cordoned off the area to prevent onlookers from getting close to the site, as the intensity of the blaze poses serious risks.

Initial reports suggest that important documents and office equipment may have been damaged, though the extent of the loss is yet to be assessed.

Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far.
