Bhubaneswar, Jan 29: In a tragic accident at Bhubaneswar Railway Station, a passenger lost his leg after he fell onto the railway track while trying to get down from a moving train.


The incident occurred on the Platform No. 2.


According to reports, the victim, identified as Santosh Pradhan, a resident of Rambha area in Ganjam district, was travelling by the Junagarh Express when the mishap took place. While alighting from the train, Santosh lost his balance and fell between the platform and the train, landing on the track. His leg was severely crushed in the accident.


RPF (Railway Protection Force) personnel present at the station acted immediately and rescued him from the tracks, which helped save his life.


He was first rushed to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar for emergency treatment. Due to the seriousness of his condition, he was later shifted to Cuttack for advanced medical care.


The incident has raised serious concerns about passenger safety and the dangers of getting down from moving trains.

Railway authorities have urged passengers to remain cautious and strictly follow safety rules while boarding or deboarding trains.


An inquiry into the incident is expected to be conducted by railway officials.
