Bhubaneswar, Dec 7: A man from Cuttack was critically injured after being stabbed inside a car near Dhauli Chhak in Bhubaneswar on Sunday, a source said.

The victim was identified as SK Abdul Hamid.

According to the source, the attack allegedly involved Hamid's wife and her male companion. Hamid was immediately shifted to Capital Hospital, where doctors stated that he has sustained serious injuries and remains under treatment.

Dhauli Police said they received a written complaint regarding the stabbing and have begun a formal investigation. Officers confirmed that the incident took place inside a vehicle, but no further details about the sequence of events have been released. Police stated that the investigation will be based strictly on evidence collected from the spot, medical reports, and statements of involved individuals.

The source informed that Abdul Hamid was called to the Dhauli area for the purpose of resolving an ongoing family dispute. Police said they are verifying the complaint and have started standard procedures, including recording statements and conducting a site examination. No arrests had been reported at the time of filing this story.

Officials at Capital Hospital confirmed that Abdul Hamid’s condition remains critical, and he is undergoing continuous monitoring.

In a separate case, a woman died by suicide on Saturday morning, with her family alleging that she took the extreme step after failing to get justice in a rape case filed a week earlier in Dhenkanal district.

The husband of the deceased claimed that a relative, identified as Tuku Das, allegedly entered their house and raped her on the night of November 30 when she was alone.
