Rain Alert / Low Pressure Area Over BoB Becomes Well-Marked

Bhubaneswar, Sep 26: A low-pressure area developed over the Bay of Bengal has now evolved into a well-marked low-pressure system, informed the Meteorological department.
According to the latest weather update, the system is likely to intensify into a depression within the next 24 hours.
The weather department further stated that the development might lead to increased rainfall activity across coastal regions of Odisha and neighboring states.
Additionally, a yellow alert has been issued for Rayagada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Khordha, Kandhamal, Balasore, and Nayagarh districts, indicating the likelihood of thunderstorms and moderate rain.
Similarly, on September 27, Nabarangpur has been placed under an orange alert, while Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Malkangiri, and Koraput will remain under yellow warning.

✨The sea is expected to remain rough during this period and fishermen have been advised not to venture into the Odisha coast and northern Bay of Bengal until September 28.
Meanwhile, the water level at Hirakud Dam continues to rise. As of 6:00 AM today, the reservoir level stands at 628.56 feet. The dam is receiving an inflow of 3,03,942 cusecs and discharging 3,61,119 cusecs of water through 20 open gates.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have urged residents in vulnerable areas to remain cautious.
