Sambalpur, Sep 26: In response to a significant surge in water inflow, authorities at Hirakud Dam have opened 20 sluice gates to manage the rising water level.
As of 6:00 AM today, the water level at the reservoir stands at 628.56 feet.
According to official sources, the dam is receiving an inflow of 3,03,942 cusecs (cubic feet per second) of water, while the outflow has been recorded at 3,61,119 cusecs. To manage the rising water level, authorities have opened 20 sluice gates to facilitate controlled discharge.
Following this, residents living downstream have been advised to remain alert and avoid venturing near riverbanks.
The district administration has issued precautionary alerts and is coordinating with disaster response teams to manage any potential emergencies.
