Bhubaneswar, Sep 26: The Indian Meteorological Department's Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar has forecast the formation of another low-pressure area around October 1. The development was confirmed by Bhubaneswar met centre director Manorama Mohanty.
According to the director, the current low-pressure system has now become well-marked and is expected to intensify further. Over the next 48 hours, the state may witness moderate to heavy rainfall, with some regions likely to experience very heavy showers. However, rainfall intensity is expected to gradually decrease starting September 28.
The weather department has advised residents and local administrations to remain alert, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
Meanwhile, the IMD has issued red alert for several districts of Odisha. An orange alert has been issued for the Koraput and Malkangiri districts, where extremely heavy rainfall is predicted.
