Angul, Dec 9: A tragic incident unfolded in the Dimiripal area under the Karatapata section of Angul district, where a Leopard, that had fallen into a hunter’s wire trap, succumbed to its injuries while undergoing treatment.

According to reports, the big cat was discovered in a severely injured condition after being caught in a snare laid by poachers. Forest officials, assisted by veterinarians, rushed to rescue the animal and provided immediate medical attention.

Despite their best efforts, the animal could not survive the trauma inflicted by the trap.

The incident has sparked widespread concern among wildlife activists and conservationists, who have condemned the use of illegal hunting practices in the region. They emphasised that such traps not only endanger tigers but also threaten the delicate balance of the ecosystem.

Forest authorities have launched an investigation into the matter and assured that measures will be taken to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
