Gajapati, Sept 4: Major landslide in the Namnagada area of Gumma block, which occurred due to heavy rainfall triggered by a low-pressure system, blocked key routes to several areas in the region.

Following the incident, residents of more than ten villages were left stranded.

The landslide, which occurred late Wednesday night, blocked key routes in the hilly terrain, halting all vehicular movement and isolating several remote communities.

Locals have expressed distress as access to essential services, including medical aid and supplies, has been cut off.

Gajapati district, known for its vulnerability to landslides due to fragile hill formations and deforestation, has witnessed similar incidents in the past.
