Bhubaneswar, Mar 30: Kalbaishakhi (Nor’wester) conditions are expected to persist across Odisha for the next seven days, informed the India Meteorological Department's regional centre.
According to the weather agency, a cyclonic circulation is currently active over the region, which is expected to trigger thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in several districts.
Under the influence of this, heavy rainfall is expected over some places across the State. Following this, a yellow warning of heavy rainfall has been issued for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, and Kalahandi districts.

Besides, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khordha, Puri, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Dhenkanal, and Kendrapara districts are expected to witness rainfall activity.
In the last 24 hours, Titilagarh recorded the highest temperature at 40.8°C, indicating the onset of summer heat. Meanwhile, Bhadrak district received the heaviest rainfall during the same period, said the weather department.
The department has urged residents to remain cautious, particularly in rural areas where thunderstorms and hailstorms could damage crops and property.
Authorities have advised people to avoid open fields during lightning strikes and to stay indoors during heavy winds.

Farmers have been asked to take protective measures for standing crops, while urban residents are warned about possible waterlogging in low-lying areas.
