Administration / Joint Conference Of Collectors and SPs Begins At Lok Seva Bhawan With Call For Administrative Reform

Bhubaneswar, Nov 18: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the two-day joint conference of District Collectors and Superintendents of Police (SPs) at Lok Seva Bhawan here on Tuesday.

During the meeting, Chief Secretary issued a strong call for administrative transformation, urging officials to shed colonial-era mindsets and embrace citizen-centric governance.

Addressing district collectors and senior officers, the Chief Secretary stressed the importance of treating people visiting government offices with dignity and respect.

He encouraged more frequent field visits, direct engagement with citizens, and on-ground reviews to ensure effective service delivery.

Highlighting systemic delays, he pointed out that poor inter-departmental coordination is hampering progress, especially in industrial development.

“Files are circulating unnecessarily between departments, causing avoidable delays in land allocation and clearance processes,” he noted.

He warned that prolonged timelines for land and forest clearances are unacceptable and could deter potential investors.

The Chief Secretary emphasised that under the Chief Minister’s leadership, the expectation is for all departments to deliver outstanding results and elevate the quality of governance.
