Key Points

A bridge linking Tal Daberi village in Koraput district’s Bandhugaon block was completely washed away, leaving residents cut off and stranded.

Koraput, Sep 24: Heavy rainfall over the past four days has wreaked havoc across various parts of the State, leading to widespread flooding in low-lying areas and submerging several villages.

In one such incident, a bridge linking Tal Daberi village in Koraput district’s Bandhugaon block was completely washed away, leaving residents cut off and stranded.

The bridge, a major connectivity in the remote area, was washed away after one side of the road eroded due to intense mountain runoff.

With this, villagers now have to walk nearly 4 kilometers to reach the main road and access the Bandhugaon block headquarters. The situation has become dire, especially for medical emergencies, as ambulances are unable to reach the village.
