Bargarh, Nov 3: Odisha Vigilance department today apprehended two staffers of Barpali Community Health Centre in Bargarh district on charges of demanding and accepting bribe through a UPI transaction.

The accused, identified as Sekhar Chandra Sahu, and Tamanna Sahu, had demanded bribe of Rs 7,000 through UPI from an employee of the same CHC for drawal of his arrear salary towards sanction of increment and MACP.

According to reports, the victim, on being promoted, joined in the post of MPMHW (Multi-Purpose Male Health Worker) in the CHC, and had been requesting accused, Accountant Sahu, to initiate file for sanction of increment, MACP, and also drawl of pending arrear salary.

However, Sahu and Tamanna Sahu demanded a bribe Rs 7,000 for the drawl of complainant's arrear salary.

Following this, the complainant approached the anti-corruption wing and lodged a complaint.

Acting on complainant's report, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed both Sekhar Chandra Sahu, and Tamanna Sahu, while taking the bribe through PhonePe from the victim.

Cell phones of both the accused persons were seized and the accused persons were taken into custody.

Reportedly, simultaneous searches are being carried on at three locations connected to Accountant Sahu from DA angle.

In this connection, Sambalpur Vigilance PS Case No.22 dt.02.11.2025 was registered under Section 7/12 P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018 against the accused persons and further investigation is underway.
