Argus News - Gajapati Landslide: Fire Team Pulls Pregnant Woman To Safety

Gajapati, Oct 3: Demonstrating exceptional bravery and urgency, the Fire Department rescued a critically ill pregnant woman trapped beneath landslide debris in Pekat village, Gajapati district, Odisha.

Soon after the rescue operation, the woman was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Her condition is reported to be stable.

Local residents and officials have praised the Fire Department for their bravery and dedication, calling the operation a shining example of public service under pressure.

Notably, landslides struck near Pekat in Rayagada block of Gajapati district. Following the incident, one person lost his life while two others went missing.

Seventy-year-old Kartika Shabara and his son Rajib Shabara were reported missing. Rescue operations are underway, although key roads linking Rayagada with Nuagarh and R Udaygiri have been severed.
