Balasore, Oct 1: The Odisha Crime Branch on Wednesday detained four individuals from the Jaleswar area in Balasore district in connection with a suspected Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment scam.

Acting on preliminary evidence, a special team comprising eight officials conducted a search operation that led to the arrests.

According to Balasore Superintendent of Police Pratyush Diwakar, the detainees have been transported to Cuttack for further investigation.

“Initial findings suggest their involvement in fraudulent activities related to the recent police SI recruitment process,” said the senior officer.

Sources within the Crime Branch indicated that the operation was launched following intelligence inputs pointing to irregularities in the recruitment procedure.

While details of the evidence remain undisclosed, officials confirmed that the suspects are being interrogated to uncover the extent of the scam and identify any potential accomplices.
