Kalahandi, Sep 30: Kalahandi's Bhawanipatna has transformed into a sea of humanity, with streets drenched in devotion following the the grand celebration of Chatar Jatra, one of the most revered and culturally vibrant festivals in Odisha.

The centuries-old ritual, deeply rooted in local tradition and faith, unfolded with grandeur and spiritual intensity.

The ceremonial Chatar was taken out from the temple following the Sandhi Puja and carried to Jena Khal on the outskirts of Bhawanipatna.

Despite repeated appeals from the district administration and police to avoid animal sacrifice, thousands of devotees continued the practice along the yatra route to appease the goddess.

To ensure smooth conduct and public safety, a massive security arrangement was in place, including five DSPs, 17 inspectors, 26 sub-inspectors, 92 constables, 174 home guards, 10 platoons of force, and numerous volunteers.

The Chatar Yatra remains one of the most significant religious and cultural events in western Odisha, blending devotion, tradition, and community participation.
