Crime in Odisha / Elderly Woman Found Dead Under Suspicious Circumstances, Police Launch Probe

Ganjam, Oct 9: An elderly woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances near Swargadwar village under Sorada police limits in Ganjam district.

Preliminary reports suggest that the woman, believed to be a beggar, was brutally beaten to death with sticks by unidentified assailants.

According to reports, the matter came to light after locals spotted the woman in a lifeless state and alerted the same to the police.

Later, police rushed to the scene and seized the body for further investigation.

According to eyewitness accounts, the woman was known to wander the area seeking alms. The attack is suspected to have occurred late last night.

Two individuals have been detained for questioning in connection with the incident. However, the motive behind the murder remains unclear at this stage.

Authorities are working to establish the identity of the deceased and determine the circumstances leading to the crime. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
