Bangiriposhi, Dec 21: A tragic incident unfolded in Juha village under Bangiriposhi police station when an elderly man was burnt alive after a fire engulfed his house late Saturday night.

The deceased has been identified as Anada Singh.

According to reports, the incident came to fore after some villagers spotted flames rising from Singh’s residence late at night and swiftly informed the Bangiriposhi Fire Service. Firefighters reached the spot without delay and managed to extinguish the blaze. However, Singh, who had been asleep inside the house, could not be rescued in time and was discovered burnt to death.

Later, a police team from Bangiriposhi station reached the scene, took possession of the body, and initiated an inquiry into the circumstances leading to the fire.

Authorities are yet to determine the exact cause of the blaze.

A case has been registered and further probe into the incident is underway.
