Bhubaneswar, Jan 15: Normalcy has been restored in the conduct of rituals at the revered Shree Lingaraj Temple today after a brief disruption during Makar Sankranti. This was informed by Brahman Nijog secretary Biranchi Narayan Pati.
He confirmed that the Mangal Alati (auspicious morning lamp offering) of Lord Lingaraj was performed today, and Dhadi Darshan (queue-based viewing of the deity) is currently underway, allowing devotees to offer prayers without interruption.
The temple rituals had come to a halt yesterday during Makar Sankranti due to a dispute between the Badu Nijog and the Brahman Nijog.
As a result, Lord Lingaraj was symbolically left to observe fasting, with no offerings or rituals conducted throughout the day. The disruption left many devotees disappointed, as the temple is one of Odisha’s most sacred shrines and a focal point of spiritual life in Bhubaneswar.
Pati emphasised that the rituals have now resumed in accordance with tradition and urged cooperation among servitor groups to ensure that worship continues smoothly.
