Cuttack, Oct 15: In a chilling case of betrayal and violence, a woman named Snehalata Mallick has been arrested by Baranga police for allegedly attacking her lover and attempting to dispose of him near Naraj Barrage.

The incident reportedly occurred on the night of October 3 and has left the local community stunned.

According to police sources, Snehalata lured her lover, Kalachand Beuria, to meet her and then launched a brutal assault using a sharp weapon. After severely injuring him, she allegedly threw him under the Naraj Barrage and fled the scene. Kalachand was later found in a critical condition and rushed to the hospital.

Baranga police launched a manhunt and successfully apprehended Snehalata, who is now in custody and undergoing interrogation. Investigators are trying to determine the motive behind the attack, which appears to stem from a personal dispute.
