Kalahandi, Oct 15: In a bizarre and disturbing incident, a 24-year-old man was arrested for attempting to extort ₹35 lakh from his own father by posing as a Naxalite.
The incident took place in Rupraroad village under Narla block in Kalahandi district. The accused, Ankush Agarwal, is the only son of prominent contractor and industrialist Dinesh Kumar Agarwal.
On October 5, Ankush allegedly placed a threatening letter inside his father's Innova car, demanding ₹35 lakh and warning of dire consequences if the money was not paid. The letter claimed to be from Naxalites and threatened to kill the entire family.

Terrified by the threat, Dinesh Agarwal lodged a complaint at Narla police station. A joint investigation was launched by Narla police and a special team from Kalahandi district police. After thorough inquiry and evidence gathering, the police discovered that the letter was fabricated by Ankush himself.
Following the revelation, Ankush was arrested and produced before the M. Rampur court on Wednesday. The case has shocked the local community, especially given the high-profile status of the Agarwal family.
Police officials stated that the motive behind the act appeared to be financial pressure or personal conflict, though further investigation is underway.
