Argus News - College Student Abduction and Gang-Rape Case: Police Arrest Prime Accused

Cuttack, Apr 16: Police on Thursday arrested the prime accused involved in the abduction and gang-rape of college student from Cuttack.

According to reports, the incident occurred in the month of the February when the victim, a college student from Cuttack was allegedly abducted by the accused and three more men. They allegedly took the victim to a hotel in Puri, intoxicated her, and outraged her modesty.

Cuttack Cantonment Police had registered a case and initiated a probe in this regard.

However, the police today arrested the prime accused from Jajpur Road railway station while he was returning from Delhi.

According to police sources, the arrested individual is believed to be the mastermind behind the crime. The other three accused remain absconding, and efforts are underway to trace and apprehend them.

Investigators revealed that the victim was forcibly taken from Cuttack to Puri, where the accused carried out the assault in a hotel room. The police acted on intelligence inputs and successfully intercepted the prime accused at the railway station, bringing him into custody.

Authorities have confirmed that the survivor has provided crucial details that helped identify the perpetrators. The police are intensifying their search operations to nab the remaining suspects.

The arrest of the prime accused marks a significant step forward in the investigation, but the hunt for the other three continues.
