Kandhamal, Dec 10: Kandhamal district in Odisha is experiencing a severe cold wave, with temperatures dipping consistently below 10 degrees Celsius over the past week.

Among the district’s towns, Udayagiri recorded the lowest temperature at 4.4°C, making it the coldest spot in the region.


Other areas also reported sharp drops in mercury, with Phulbani registering 8°C and Daringibadi at 6°C. The persistent chill has highlighted Kandhamal’s reputation as one of Odisha’s coldest districts during winter.

Residents have expressed concern over the prolonged cold spell, noting its impact on vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly.

Local authorities are monitoring the situation, advising people to take precautions against the cold and fog.
