Bhubaneswar, Dec 9: Odisha is set to experience a persistent cold wave in several districts until December 12, according to the latest weather bulletin issued by the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar.

The IMD forecast notes that dry weather is likely to prevail across the state for the next five days, with isolated pockets in Sundargarh, Angul, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Khordha, Jagatsinghpur, Kandhamal, Koraput, Subarnapur, and Cuttack districts experiencing cold wave conditions. Shallow to moderate fog is also expected in the early mornings over the districts of Sundargarh, Kandhamal, and Koraput.

The bulletin advises that minimum temperatures will remain largely steady during this period, with no significant rise expected. For Bhubaneswar, residents can expect morning fog and mostly clear skies during the day, with a maximum of around 29°C and a minimum of 12°C.

The weather office has issued a yellow warning for dense fog in parts of Sundargarh and Kandhamal districts, which could affect visibility in the early hours. Fishermen along the Odisha coast are not expected to face severe weather in the coming days.

The IMD also noted that no significant cyclonic activity is present in the region, and the overall weather pattern will remain dominated by stable conditions, allowing the cold wave to persist in affected areas.
