Bhubaneswar, Jan 8: Odisha continues to reel under severe cold wave conditions as several towns recorded bone-chilling night temperatures.
According to the latest reports, Rourkela registered 5.4°C, Jharsuguda 5.8°C, Keonjhar 8.0°C, Bhubaneswar 9.4°C, Balasore 9.5°C, Sambalpur 10°C, Hirakud 11.2°C, Paradip 11.3°C, Gopalpur 13.5°C, and Puri 14.4°C.
The state capital Bhubaneswar touched 9.4°C, marking the fourth lowest January temperature.
Meteorologists noted that today’s reading has repeated the record set in January 1952, highlighting the intensity of the ongoing cold spell.

Dense fog and biting winds have added to the discomfort, affecting daily life across western and coastal Odisha.
Residents reported difficulties in early morning travel,
while traders and commuters struggled with poor visibility. Schools and offices
witnessed thin attendance as people preferred to stay indoors.
