Bhubaneswar, Feb 28: Two Odia youths, who were stranded in Thailand, have safely returned to Odisha following the intervention of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
The youths, identified as Yashobanta Sahu and Prashant Raut from Rajkanika block in Kendrapara district, had travelled to Thailand in August 2025 to work at a plywood company. However, they faced severe hardships after the employer allegedly withheld their salaries and subjected them to difficult conditions.
Seeking help, they appealed to the Odisha government through social media platforms.
Responding swiftly, the state government coordinated with multiple agencies, including the Ministry of External Affairs, the Office of the Chief Resident Commissioner in New Delhi, the Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department’s Odisha Paribar Directorate, the Labour and Employees’ State Insurance Department, and the Kendrapara district administration. Their combined efforts ensured the safe repatriation of the youths.

Earlier, four other Odia youths stranded in similar circumstances had also been brought back. With today’s arrival, the government has successfully facilitated the return of six workers from Thailand.
Upon reaching Odisha, the rescued youths expressed heartfelt gratitude to the government for its timely intervention and support, acknowledging the assistance that enabled them to reunite with their families.
