Bhubaneswar, Jan 25: Eminent Odia music director and vocalist Abhijit Majumdar’s demise has left the Odisha film industry in deep sorrow. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan expressed heartfelt condolences, describing his passing as an irreparable loss to the state’s music, cinema, and cultural heritage.


CM Majhi said Majumdar’s contribution to Odia music and films will be remembered for generations.


“His demise is an irreparable loss to music, cinema and culture. I pray to Lord Jagannath for eternal peace to the departed soul and convey my condolences to the bereaved family,” the Chief Minister stated.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also paid tribute, calling Majumdar’s passing “an irreparable loss to Odisha’s cultural world.” He extended his sympathies to the grieving family and acknowledged Majumdar’s immense role in shaping the Odia music industry.


Abhijit Majumdar, known for his prolific compositions and soulful melodies, was one of the most celebrated music directors in Odisha, with a career spanning decades and hundreds of popular songs to his credit. His death has triggered an outpouring of grief from fans, artists, and colleagues across the state.
