Cuttack, Jan 26: India on Monday celebrates its 77th Republic Day with patriotic fervour, and Odisha marked the occasion with vibrant district and state-level ceremonies.
At Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will grace the celebration as the chief guest. At 8:35 AM, he is scheduled to unfurl the national flag and received the salute of the combined parade contingents before addressing the gathering.
The parade at Barabati Stadium will feature 47 contingents,
including uniformed forces, students, and civic groups. Nine government
department tableaux will also be showcased, highlighting developmental
initiatives and achievements.

Following the parade, distinguished individuals and institutions from the district will be honoured for their contributions in various fields. Winners of district-level competitions organized for Republic Day will also be felicitated.
At 10:30 AM, the Chief Minister will inaugurate a blood donation camp and a book exhibition at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium. He is scheduled to visit an exhibition organized by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) within the stadium premises.

✨To ensure smooth conduct of the event, nearly 20 platoons of security forces have been deployed inside and outside the stadium. Dog squads and bomb squads are stationed at key points, while senior police officials, including the DCP, five additional DCPs, 11 ACPs, 32 inspectors, and 105 sub-inspectors and assistant sub-inspectors, have been assigned responsibilities for security management.
Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar will witness the state-level Republic Day celebration at Mahatma Gandhi Marg. The parade will include 51 contingents, featuring CRPF, OISF, Home Guards, Civil Defence, and other uniformed forces. Students from government and private schools and colleges will also participate, adding youthful enthusiasm to the event.
Five folk dance and folk art groups from different districts will showcase Odisha’s cultural heritage, while daredevil motorbike stunts and skating groups will thrill the audience. Fourteen government department tableaux will be presented, reflecting the state’s progress and vision.
The Governor of Odisha Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati will unfurl the national flag as the chief guest, with VIPs, VVIPs, and the general public witnessing the grand parade. For security, the entire venue will be monitored through CCTV surveillance, and connecting roads to Gandhi Marg have been blocked during the parade.
On the eve of Republic Day, Bhubaneswar was placed under heightened security. Commissionerate Police conducted marathon checks across hotels, with strict patrolling from late night until dawn. Surprise inspections were carried out at small and large hotels, while night blocking and convoy patrolling were intensified. Railway stations also witnessed rigorous checks to ensure safety.
The 77th Republic Day celebrations in Odisha thus combined
patriotic pride, cultural vibrancy, and robust security, making it a memorable
occasion for citizens across the state.
