Biju Patnaik was born on March 5, 1916, in Cuttack, Odisha. He served as Odisha's Chief Minister twice—first from 1961 to 1963 and later from 1990 to 1995.
He was also the Union Minister of Steel, Mines, and Coal. As a freedom fighter, Biju Patnaik endured several incarcerations during India’s struggle for independence. His political career included four terms in the Lok Sabha, one term in the Rajya Sabha, and seven terms in the Odisha Assembly.
