Puri, Dec 7: A special ritual known as 'Chuan Mahasnan' was performed at Lord Jagannath Temple in Puri today after a temple servitor reportedly touched Lord Jagannath during darshan.
The ritual, deeply rooted in temple tradition, is carried out to restore sanctity whenever the deities are physically touched by outsiders.
According to temple sources, the incident occurred during the morning hours when a temple priest came into contact with the idol of Lord Jagannath. As per the age-old customs of the Shreemandir, such an act necessitates a ceremonial purification bath of the deity, referred to as 'Chuan Mahasnan'.
Following the initiation of the ritual, public darshan was temporarily suspended.

✨Devotees waiting in long queues were informed that the sanctification process would take several hours.
The temple administration clarified that darshan would
resume only after the completion of the ritual procedures.

Temple authorities have urged devotees to respect the sanctity of the shrine and follow guidelines during darshan to avoid such incidents in the future.
Darshan is expected to resume once the ritual bath is completed later in the day.
