Cuttack, Jul 4: In a shocking incident, Chauliaganj Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) Beauty Mohanty was found dead at her official residence here in Odisha on Saturday morning, with preliminary reports suggesting suicide.

According to police sources, Mohanty was found hanging inside her official quarters in Cuttack after colleagues raised alarm when she failed to respond to repeated calls. The door was forced open, and she was found unresponsive. Her body was later sent to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack for autopsy.

Forensic and scientific teams have been deployed to examine the scene, while investigators are reviewing CCTV footage and call records. Statements are being taken from family members and colleagues to ascertain possible triggers.

Senior officials rushed to the spot soon after the incident was reported. While the exact circumstances remain unclear, sources indicate that factors such as family disputes, health issues including migraines, and work-related stress are being examined as possible causes.

Mohanty, known for her uncompromising policing style, had earlier served at Pahala, Markatnagar, and Mahila police stations before being posted to Chauliaganj. She is survived by her son, while her husband resides outside Cuttack.
