According to police sources, Mohanty was found hanging inside her official quarters in Cuttack after colleagues raised alarm when she failed to respond to repeated calls. The door was forced open, and she was found unresponsive. Her body was later sent to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack for autopsy.
Forensic and scientific teams have been deployed to examine
the scene, while investigators are reviewing CCTV footage and call records.
Statements are being taken from family members and colleagues to ascertain
possible triggers.

Mohanty, known for her uncompromising policing style, had earlier served at Pahala, Markatnagar, and Mahila police stations before being posted to Chauliaganj. She is survived by her son, while her husband resides outside Cuttack.
