Series Accidents at Govindapalli Ghati
In Malkangiri district, a series of road accidents took place on Wednesday morning when four heavy trucks, carrying goods, lost control and met with mishaps at a sharp curve along the Govindapalli ghat section of National Highway 326.
According to preliminary reports, the trucks were navigating the ghat when one after another lost balance while negotiating a curve. The heavy loads they were carrying made it difficult to regain control, leading to collisions and damage.
Fortunately, the accidents did not result in any fatalities. The drivers of the trucks sustained minor injuries and were given immediate medical attention. No passengers or bystanders were reported injured.
Authorities have begun an investigation into the incidents, and police have reached the site to assess the situation.
Traffic movement along the highway was disrupted for several hours as efforts were made to clear the damaged vehicles.
The Govindapalli ghat stretch has long been considered accident-prone, and Wednesday’s series of mishaps has renewed calls for stricter enforcement of speed limits, better road maintenance, and installation of warning signs to prevent such occurrences in the future.
