Fire Mishap / Capital Hospital Flooded with Burn Cases on Diwali Night

Bhubaneswar, Oct 21: Diwali celebrations in Bhubaneswar turned tragic for many as 62 people were reportedly injured due to firecracker-related accidents across the city.
Victims, including several children, suffered burns to their hands, feet, and faces and were rushed to Capital Hospital for treatment.
Hospital authorities had anticipated the surge in cases and made extensive arrangements, including a dedicated burn unit, a 24-hour ticket counter, and a special medical team to handle emergencies.
Capital Hospital Superintendent Dhananjay Das urged residents
to exercise caution while bursting firecrackers and follow safety guidelines
issued by the government.

In addition to burn injuries, reports say that the city witnessed over 30 road accidents due to reduced visibility caused by smoke from excessive firecracker use.
One of the accidents claimed the life of a young woman from the Barabari area near Khandagiri. She was among several victims admitted to Capital Hospital following collisions and mishaps.
A serious crash occurred near Jaleshwar Temple under Nayapalli Police Station limits, where a car and a scooter collided head-on. The scooter rider sustained critical injuries and is currently undergoing treatment. Police have seized both vehicles and launched an investigation into the incident.
Authorities have reiterated the importance of adhering to
firecracker safety protocols and traffic regulations during festive occasions.
With one more day of Diwali celebrations remaining, the police have advised
citizens to remain vigilant and celebrate responsibly.
